Officer Sonny Kim is the first Cincinnati police officer to be killed in the line of duty in 15 years.

Officer Kevin Crayon was killed on Colerain Avenue in September 2000 when he noticed a child behind the wheel of a car in a convenience store parking lot. As he approached the car, the 12-year-old boy in the driver's seat took off.

When Pope and Jeter attempted to arrest Davenport, he wrestled his way away from them, grabbed a gun and fatally shot both officers.

Officer Tony Campbell died in 2009 while serving as a U.S. Air Force reservist in Afghanistan. Other troops said Campbell was killed by an explosive device while helping his fellow soldiers.
Kim, 48, was killed Friday morning after responding to a call in Madisonville. Cincinnati Police Chief Jeffrey Blackwell said suspect Trepierre Hummons, 21, called police on himself twice and shot at Kim as he arrived at the scene.
