Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will marry in May 2018. The date was revealed by Kensington Palace just a day after they announced their engagement and plans to marry next spring.Following speculation that Harry and Meghan will have a church ceremony, the Palace also announced the location of their big day. The couple will wed at St. George's Chapel at Windsor Castle."The marriage of His Royal Highness Prince Henry of Wales and Ms. Meghan Markle will take place at St. George's Chapel, Windsor Castle in May 2018," the statement read.It confirmed that the Queen has granted permission for the marriage to take place at the Windsor chapel and that the royal family will pay for the wedding. The exact date will be announced "in due course."In their first joint interview, Prince Harry said he proposed earlier in November during a "standard, typical night for us" at his Nottingham Cottage home as the couple were making roast chicken."It was just an amazing surprise. It was so sweet, and natural and very romantic," Markle told the BBC.There had been some question as to whether Harry would be allowed to marry divorcee Meghan in Westminster Abbey. However, a spokesman for the Abbey recently confirmed that their marriage could take place in the venue chosen by Prince William and Kate Middleton due to a recent ruling by the Church of England. "The Abbey follows the General Synod Ruling of 2002," the spokesperson said. "Since then it has been possible for divorced people to be married in the Church of England."Harry will follow in the footsteps of Prince Edward, who was the only one of Prince Charles's siblings not to follow the pattern of previous royal weddings when he married Sophie Rhys-Jones in 1999. Peter Phillips, son of Princess Anne and Captain Mark Phillips, married Autumn Kelly in the chapel in 2008 and Prince Charles also celebrated his marriage to the Duchess of Cornwall there in 2005.
