Dewey's Pizza in West Chester raises money for Police Unity Tour
Organization raises awareness about officers who died in line of duty

Dewey's Pizza in West Chester opened its doors early Sunday to help raise money for the Police Unity Tour.
The Unity Tour is a 230 mile bike ride from Richmond, Virginia to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Washington, D.C.
Everyone who rides is doing it in memory of a fallen police officer.
"As a police officer, I understand meeting the families and the camaraderie we all have. It is a brotherhood. It is a family. So when one of us falls, we all feel the pain," Oxford Township Officer David Geiger said.
Geiger helped organize the event at Dewey's. Each participant who paid $25 got to go through pizza school and learn how to cook a pizza pie. Money went to the Unity Tour.
"This is the first time we had so much fun raising the money and raising the dough," said DJ Coursen. Her husband AJ Coursen was killed in the line of duty in 2002 in South Carolina.
AJ Coursen was also a firefighter and in wake of the recent death of Cincinnati Firefighter Daryl Gordon, DJ also put out her husband's boots at the event to help raise money for Gordon's fun.
"I always do something for the police officers since he died in the line of duty as a police officer, but he had another side to him and he was a fire chief. So this opportunity came up and when I saw his boots and his helmet sitting there, I thought what a perfect way to celebrate his life as a firefighter and give back," DJ Coursen said.
This fundraiser is part of Dewey's Pizza's philanthropic arm, the DewMore Initiative.
The DewMore Initiative is a nonprofit collaborative of employees from local Dewey's Pizza restaurants that support communities through volunteer work and various community-based causes.
