Chipotle closes restaurant after rodent video goes viral
A Texas Chipotle is temporarily closed after a customer tweeted a video of rodents scampering about in the restaurant.
Becca Winn posted a that she said her friend filmed at a Chipotle in Dallas' West End Historic District, a posh downtown neighborhood. This location is in the 200 block of North Market Street in that city.
One rodent can be seen running around by the door. In another frame, one can be seen crawling up a wall.
The location temporarily shut down Tuesday, roughly three weeks after the video was shared. Management has not announced when it will re-open.
Chipotle Mexican Grill Inc. spokeswoman Quinn Kelsey that management originally removed the rodents and called in professionals to seal a gap in the building. They said this might have been the entrance rodents used to crawl inside the 100-year-old structure.
This is one of several recent negative stories for the fast-casual Tex-Mex chain. It's been a target of a series of health-related issues, including a story from a Las Vegas Chipotle from last month. Roughly 135 people reported becoming sick after dining at an outpost in that city. At least two customers said they tested positive for norovirus, a contagious virus caused by food contamination.
