Who is Vivek Ramaswamy? Cincinnati-native to lead Trump's new 'Dept. of Efficiency'
President-elect Donald Trump announced a new department in his second administration and tapped a Cincinnati native to help oversee it.
Vivek Ramaswamy, a rising newcomer and staunch Trump supporter, was tapped, along with Elon Musk, to oversee Trump's new Department of Government Efficiency in his second administration.
In a statement, Trump says the purpose of the department is to "dismantle government bureaucracy, slash excess regulations, cut wasteful expenditures and restructure federal agencies."
The statement also quoted Musk as saying that "this will send shockwaves through the system, and anyone involved in government waste, which is a lot of people."
Ramaswamy suspended his bid for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination in January and endorsed Trump after finishing a distant fourth in Iowa바카라 게임 웹사이트s leadoff caucuses.
Having just turned 38, Ramaswamy was the youngest person to be a major Republican presidential candidate.
Born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio, Ramaswamy, the son of Indian immigrants, founded a biotechnology company before becoming the partner of a hedge fund. He is the author of the books "Woke, Inc." and "Nation of Victims" and gained stature in conservative circles for his criticism of the environmental, social and corporate governance movement that aims to promote socially responsible investing.
