It's said to be one of the nation's most haunted places. Eight people were killed with an ax victims had been beat severely to where they were totally unrecognizable. There's been apparitions. There's been lots of noises, footsteps, doors open and closing. People get so scared in here that they go running out of the house never to return. Villisca Iowa lies 55 miles southeast of Omaha on the outskirts, nestled near *** church is *** century old house once called home by *** family of six. Josiah and Sarah Moore were middle class homeowners in Villisca Iowa. Josiah owned *** business in town. Sarah kept up their small three bedroom home and took care of the couple's four Children. One fateful night the entire family was killed. It was *** crime. So vile, many tried to bury its memory. We just didn't talk about it. Nobody did. Yet in that house, something remains unwilling to fade away. On June 9th 1912, the Moors invited the two stillinger sisters, eight year old Inna May and 12 year old Lena Gertrude to spend the night. The Moors had attended *** church function that Sunday evening and the two stinger girls came home with him to spend the night just like our kids have kids stay overnight today. Yeah. Unfortunately, they picked that night in the early hours of June 10th, someone stalked through the night and into the Moor home wielding an ax found in the backyard. The interloper crept up the stairs to where Josiah and Sarah slept. They were killed before they could wake. The more Children were tucked into their beds sleeping each was struck and killed. The killer next moved downstairs to where Inna and Lena were in the guest room. Investigators said one of the girls tried to hide in *** closet but it offered no refuge. Victims had been beat severely to where they were totally unrecognizable. They were all hit multiple times mostly with *** blunt end of the ax. So what do you suppose was going through the mind of *** person that could kill six kids. Villisca woke to the horrific scene. The bodies and windows were covered by sheets. Even the mirrors were concealed. Hopes of *** thorough investigation were marred by the morbid curiosity of neighbors. Law enforcement soon lost control of the crime scene. Up to 100 people walked through the house gawking at the bodies before the crime scene. Investigators arrived there are numerous theories and suspects but no convictions. It remains the largest unsolved ax murderer in American history today. The home is known as the Villisca ox murder house. Rumored to be one of the most haunted places in the US. Still nothing dawn broke and their chance to prove the haunting fled with the dark yet for this group and countless others belief remains strong. I think they have to believe it. I see it to believe it. You've seen it. I kind of think it can be in reverse too. Sometimes you have to believe before you'll see it.
