A potential tragedy was narrowly averted in Poughkeepsie, New York, on Saturday when a woman and two children narrowly escaped a manhole explosion.The City of Poughkeepsie Fire Department released footage on social media showing the dramatic moment of their escape. In the video, a woman can be seen pushing what appears to be a stroller while another child walks by her side. Moments after they walk over the manhole, an explosion occurs, sending dust, concrete, and what appears to be smoke into the air. Fire crews detected high carbon monoxide levels in several nearby buildings, prompting the evacuation of the entire block until the gas was cleared.
