Social media was left scratching its head early Wednesday at a tweet from President Donald Trump's personal Twitter account.
"Despite the constant negative press covfefe," the President wrote to his 31 million followers.
'Covfefe' set off a meme firestorm on Twitter, with users attempting to figure out what the President meant.
Many people on Twitter were also left asking why the tweet was left up. The tweet was later deleted after raking in over 127,000 retweets and 160,000 likes in nearly 6 hours.
According to a March letter from the House Oversight Committee to White House Counsel Don McGahn, deleting tweets could violate the Presidential Records Act, if they are not archived.
After deleting the original tweet, Trump posted a new one poking fun at his Twitter blunder.
"Who can figure out the true meaning of "covfefe" ??? Enjoy!"
