Tips to keep four-legged friends safe during Halloween

Another Halloween is upon us and it's always a good reminder to think of those four-legged friends. The October holiday can lead to dangerous conditions for pets. Scroll below for tips to keep them safe:

Beware of Halloween candy

Keep candy and chocolate away from pets. They can be toxic to dogs and cats, so move the candy bowl out of their reach.

Costumes can cause stress

Don't force your pets to wear costumes because it can cause unwarranted stress. Only dress them up if they seem to enjoy it.

If your pet enjoys costumes, make sure they can still breathe, bark, meow and move around in them. Also make sure there are no small pieces that they can chew off and swallow.

Upset stomachs

Pumpkins and corn are non-toxic but can give pets stomach aches if the foods are ingested.

Bring all pets indoors before trick-or-treating begins. Cats and dogs can fall victim to Halloween pranks.
