As volunteers continue to send donations to Texas and Florida, Saralynn Augustine said the U.S. Virgin Islands need help too."We're screaming for attention. We need help," Augustine said. "We need donations. We need supplies. We need food and water for our people."Originally from St. Thomas, Augustine now calls Cincinnati home. She has been glued to Facebook these last few days for updates about her mother, uncles, cousins and friends."We're looking at those pictures, and we're saying my cousin lives here in this house. Can someone please send a message for someone to go find her?" Augustine said. While social media can bring relief when word gets back that a loved one is safe, Augustine said some images create heartache."To see your favorite grocery store, or the schools that you grew up in, or the post office that your family always gets packages or sends packages from, to see complete and utter destruction of some of these buildings, we're not just attached to these people, we're attached to the land itself," Augustine said. Land that has been devastated, and islands that deserve the same attention as the mainland."We feel forgotten. I'm hearing people compare us to third world countries. We're not Third World countries. We're American citizens. We're U.S. citizens," Augustine said.
