Another member of the royal family will make history in the wedding department this summer. First, Meghan Markle was the first mixed raced woman to officially join the crew, and now Lord Ivar Mountbatten (Queen Elizabeth's cousin) will be the first gay royal family member to marry his partner. Lord Mountbatten came out in 2016, being the first member of the royal family to do so, and announced that he was in a relationship with James Coyle. He was previously married to a woman named Penny and they share three daughters.He said his extended family is very supportive, especially Prince Edward (the queen's youngest son) and his wife Sophie. Although they won't be able to make it to the wedding, he said they "adore James." His ex-wife will walk him down the aisle, and she told the Daily Mail it was her daughters' idea. "It was the girls' idea," she said. "It makes me feel quite emotional. I'm really very touched."The wedding will be small, James told the Daily Mail, with just friends and family at the ceremony and then 120 people or so joining them for the reception. "For me, what's interesting is I don't need to get married because I've been there, done that and have my wonderful children; but I'm pushing it because I think it's important for him," Lord Mountbatten said. "James hasn't had the stable life I have. I want to be able to give that."
