Hi. Yeah, you've heard me shout out this next website *** lot, right? Report fraud.ftc.gov. It's where you go to report fraud, scams, even phishing emails and texts to the Federal Trade Commission. But our viewer Larry emailed me wanting to know, does that really do anything? Here's what happens when you report fraud to the FTC because it sometimes feels like it goes into *** black hole immediately you receive next steps you can take to protect yourself or try to recover any money. You may have lost your report, then goes into the FT CS Consumer Database, which is shared with federal state and local law enforcement across the country. The FTC does not respond to each report individually. So don't expect to reply necessarily. They're not gonna act as your personal collections agency. That would be nice though. However, they use your reports right to investigate and bring cases against fraud, scams and bad business practices. So let's say *** series of reports leads to *** court case and the FTC ends up winning money. They'll actually try to contact everyone who file the report so they can get some of the cash. That's you. Even if they can't get your money back. They'll also use those reports to spot trends and warn the public about scams. So it's always *** good idea to file *** report. Why not?
