Get ready for your daily dose of cuteness! Pygmy marmosets Audrey and Gumi, the world's smallest species of monkeys, just had two healthy babies at the Chester Zoo in Cheshire, England. The teeny-tiny twins weigh just 15 grams and will measure five inches in length when fully grown. They were born on July 25, but only now are big enough for humans to see them inside their habitat. Despite being so small, their cuteness definitely packs an adorable punch."Pygmy marmosets actually have relatively large babies for their tiny size," said Dr. Nick Davis, deputy curator of mammals at Chester Zoo. "An adult will only weigh up to around 150 grams and so each baby equates to around 10 percent of its body weight."These monkeys also take equal share in their parenting duties. After giving the twins their regular feeds, Audrey rests while dad takes on the parental chores. "The youngsters can therefore often be seen being carried by dad Gumi for long periods of time as mum takes a well-deserved break," Dr. Davis shared.Check out this adorable video of them hitching a ride around their habitat:According to People, although these precious babies will grow up safe inside the Chester Zoo, Eastern pygmy marmosets are threatened by both habitat loss and being captured for pet trade in the rainforests of western Brazil, southeastern Colombia, eastern Ecuador, and eastern Peru.(h/t People)
