He might be 90 and missing his wife and sister after their passing, but that's not stopping Derek Taylor from staying active in his community to help fight the he often feels because of his age.
After Taylor wanted to stop feeling lonely because he didn't have anyone to talk to on a daily basis, he came up with a that other elderly people like himself can try in order to continue living life to the fullest.
"I thought, what can I do to stop being lonely?" Taylor said in an interview with . "The older you get, the less people seem to contact you."
It's a sad fact that comes with age that people often question: "What will I do when I'm older when I have no family and friends left?" With Taylor's list of advice, he hopes that others his age will be inspired to continue participating in some of the activities so that they don't feel lonely.
Here is Taylor's list that the put into a handout as part of their :

He now goes to coffee shops to have conversations with others and has even gotten involved with local community gardening!
"Coffee mornings are an ideal chance to discuss current events, including plans for future projects for the over-50s and how homes and neighborhoods can be designed to be age-friendly," Taylor said in the handout.
So if you haven't talked to your grandparents or any other elderly people in your life today, make this the time to call them and encourage them to stay involved so they never have to feel lonely.
