Oak Hills High School mom says her son suffered a TBI concussion from the fight. Now she wants to know what will happen to her son's alleged attacker.
Green Township police are investigating an alleged fight at Oak Hills High School that put one student in the hospital.
Shauna Helton says her son, who she wishes to keep anonymous, was attacked at the school Friday. She said another student pulled her son's pants down in front of his classmates. Shauna's son then pushed him and told him to apologize. She said the student proceeded to punch him repeatedly on the left side of his head.
"My son blacked out and was found on the ground," Helton said. "It's humiliating. Especially in front of his peers."
Helton said she was notified about the altercation by Oak Hills High School. When she arrived, she claimed he wasn't talking much or making any sense. She described the exchange she had with Oak Hills' staff after she asked why they didn't call 911.
"They said, 'Well, we had a hard time getting the story out of him.' And I said, 'That's because he is disoriented and confused, and I need to go get medical services.' They did not call an ambulance. They did not give what my son deserved, and he needed to be medically evaluated because he was found on the ground," Helton said.
바카라게임 brought these allegations to a spokesperson for Oak Hills High School. They sent us the following statement, "Oak Hills administrators and our School Resource Officer immediately responded to the incident and upon assessing the situation an administrator trained in concussion protocols put the student through the process. The student answered the questions and was coherent during the protocol process."
Helton said her son spent the evening at Cincinnati Children's Hospital, where he was diagnosed with a traumatic brain injury/concussion. She said he is still dealing with symptoms of headaches, light sensitivity, fatigue and bits of confusion.
The spokesperson told us Oak Hills has wrapped their investigation on the incident. They cannot release details on the alleged attacker's discipline because he is a minor.
However, Helton said the school called her today and said he's received the "maximum punishment."
"My understanding is that he will be returning this fall, and it would be under a 'stay-away agreement.' My concern, as a parent, is if a child has been injured to a point of having a blackout and a TBI concussion, I have concerns for the safety of my child as well as other students," she said.
The Oak Hills spokesperson says the district is working closely with Green Township police on its investigation. It's now up to police if the alleged attacker will be charged.
