Country star and Tennessee native Dolly Parton on Tuesday held a telethon for wildfire victims in her home state, raising "millions," according to a report from Time. The "My People Fund" willgive families affected by a late November wildfire in the Great Smoky Mountains $1,000 per month for six months. The blazes that killed 14 people, injured 150 others and left more than 2,400 buildings damaged to varying degrees. Two juveniles are charged with aggravated arson in the fires. Country legends performed at Parton's Nashville telethon, and musicians Taylor Swift and Paul Simon each donating $100,000. The NFL's Tennessee Titans donated $144,270. "I know it has been a trying time for my people, and this assistance will help them get back on their feet," said Parton, whose goal was to raise $13 million, with the final tally in the "millions."
