Owner of stolen SUV speaks out after suspects crashed into police cruiser
A Middletown mother is without a car. Police say it was stolen Sunday by kids who totaled it, crashing into an officer's cruiser.
Lori Craft is a mail carrier and a mom to a 9-year-old girl.
She says getting to work and getting her daughter to school won't be easy without a car, and, right now, she can't afford to buy a new one.
Craft said she was getting ready to head to her job at the post office Sunday, when her daughter noticed her car wasn't in its spot.
That's when she realized it had been stolen.
Middletown police say it was stolen by teenagers.
When they located the car and went to make an arrest, the teenagers sped off.
That's when police say they crashed the car into a cruiser.
"I was informed that my vehicle had been going extremely fast, rammed into one of the officer's SUVs, and ended up pretty much in a tree," Craft said.
Thankfully, friends and co-workers have stepped up to help get Craft and her daughter where they need to go.
Now, she's trying to figure out how she's going to save for a new car.
"I'm a postal worker. I'm a mail carrier. I'm out there every day," Craft said. "I work so hard for what I have and to have it taken from me, it's just, it's very hard right now."
