The Batsuit from 1992 superhero flick "Batman Returns" just sold on Auctions, a site devoted to Hollywood memorabilia and rare collectible items. Bidding for the suit started at $33,000. The auction's , including taxes and fees.
The suit is made up of "formed black rubber segments covered by the textured integral cape and cowl style mask, with long black leather gloves, boots and gold plastic belt and bat symbol," according to the auction. "Original parts of the costume worn in the film are the cowl, cape and body; the gloves, belt, insignia and shoes are replicas for the display.
The item was in "overall very good condition."
The best part of the auction? The Batsuit comes displayed on a mannequin that looks just like actor Michael Keaton - the actor who played the caped crusader in the 1992 film.
"Batman Returns" reached audiences on June 19, 1992. It earned $45.69 million across 2,644 theaters during its first weekend - the highest-grossing opening weekend of any film up to that point in time. It became the third highest-grossing movie in America and the sixth most lucrative film of 1992. "Batman Returns" reached a total of $266.83 million across the globe.
