Health officials in Kentucky confirmed an adult has tested positive for measles, a highly contagious respiratory virus.
The Kentucky Department for Public Health and Franklin County Health Department confirmed the case in Frankfort on Wednesday.
Officials said the person who has measles recently traveled to another country that has ongoing measles transmission.
Public health officials said the person recently spent time at the Planet Fitness on Allen Way in Frankfort.
People who were at the Planet Fitness location from 9:15 a.m. until 12:15 p.m. on Feb. 17 may have been exposed to the virus, officials said.
The measles virus spreads through the air and can survive for up to two hours after an infected person leaves an area.
