"Scorpion" actress and 2006 "American Idol" runner up Katharine McPhee shared a snap of Meghan Markle when they were kids, proving the duo's love of theater goes way back. Of course, it's not the first throwback picture of the Duchess of Sussex to circulate the internet (remember this college sorority picture?) but between the bright smile and stage makeup, it might just be our favorite. "Meghan and I did musicals together as kids. She grew up to be the Duchess of Sussex, and I grew up to star on the West End, so same life if you ask me," McPhee captioned the photo. McPhee and Markle grew up in Los Angeles and both pursued acting. McPhee is currently in London to reprise her role as Jenna for the U.K. premiere of the hit musical "Waitress." She played the role on Broadway last year. Markle has also put in some recent stage time. Well, sort of. In January, Kensington palace announced that the Duchess was taking over Queen Elizabeth's role as the royal patron of the National Theatre and The Association of Commonwealth Universities. Part of the 37-year-old's duties will include "strengthening connections between the theatre and American benefactors," The Daily Mail reported when the news was first released. "The Duchess of Sussex will become patron of four organizations that reflect the causes and issues with which she has long been associated including the arts, access to education, support for women and animal welfare," the palace tweeted. Here's hoping that Prince Harry and Meghan's baby-to-be follows in mom's musical-loving footsteps so we'll get to see pics of their little one in kicky costumes, too.
