Updated: 1:55 PM EST Dec 12, 2023
I'm Jim Day. I'd like to introduce the gentleman here at the front table, the president of baseball operations for the CNA Race, Nick crop. And of course the newest friend Jer Klara informal session here today have the questions for Nick Crow and Jam. Coming up first, we'd like to acknowledge some of Jamar's family, his agent that's here today. His wife, Andrea daughters, Aliah and Abigail mother Hal Hilda Rosario, excuse me, father Roger Candelario and Cincinnati neighbor native and jam agent Paul Kinsman Nick. Let's start with you uh to, to question it too. And again, you media members here will have *** chance to ask questions as well. Uh What led you to Chamber Candela, the free agent market first. I wanna just thank everybody, you know, thank first off uh our ownership group. Uh It was *** big signing. Uh You know, we think that Chamber has *** good chance to made *** huge impact for our club. I wanna thank our sales that did *** great job of getting us to this point. Um Our baseball operations staff, but, you know, we're really excited to have to have Jay Mar. We, we think that he is gonna be an everyday player on our club switch hitter plays 1st and 3rd and has *** chance to just make impact for us. And let's just get right to the, uh the Jersey and the hat presentation because we love Jam to answer some questions and his newest digs. Thank you. It's good. Now we're talking, how's it feel? The Jersey and the hat? Oh, first of all, I just wanna thank, you know, Jesus Christ, my love and saver um big opportunity for me, for my family. Um I just wanna thank, you know, uh Nick Jeff, um Brad and um Debbie Bell, the ownership and the C United Red for this big opportunity for me and I'm just looking forward to, you know, be part of this nice world. J I imagine you had several choices uh beyond the, the business side of the money side of it. Why this is an address? Why this is *** rest because um you know, I put together *** plan with my agent. I talked to my family too and when I came um um this year playing against this team, I saw like *** different team. I saw *** team that, you know, has *** lot of, you know, versatility. Um We could run, we could hit, we got um you know, nice group of young guys that um with, you know, me and this team and the guys that we are here, we can make something special here in Cincinnati. So I used to tell myself, you know what, I'm gonna talk to my family. I'm gonna put myself in *** good position and um here I am, you know, I'm *** Cincinnati Red and I'm blessed to be here. So we said it's informal here today, the media members that are in attendance, if you could just raise your hand in front of *** microphone that's gonna come around to you. So anyone um could you get that side, Mark Sheldon or Rock Jer? Uh This is obviously *** very young team and you're gonna be one of the veteran guys. How do you feel about your, your, your position to uh help younger players improve well performing well yourself on the field? Yeah, for sure. That's ***, that's *** good question. Um I just came here, you know, to help the team win, um leaving by *** handle all the time, you know, try to, you know, have *** routine and every execute it and um like I said, we got *** lot of young guys but they know what they do, what they doing and for me, um just, just give everything I have in the field off the field and, you know, come with them every single day expected to have *** w and you know, have *** plan and execute. That's, that's what I'm here for on your left shoulder chamber. Congratulations to all in Cincinnati for your family, these people are the only ones who know about the work. No, first of all, you know, uh, my dad is, it's just really *** special day for my dad and my mom, my wife, uh, my agent Paul Kinsler. Um, and, um, and, um, Becky, this is, we are *** family, we are in the same group, we are on the same page every single day, whatever decision we make, we always, you know, put it *** plan together and execute. I know my dad um *** lot of ground balls, *** lot of BP, *** lot of everything. He, you know, he made myself *** lover of the game and I just thank God for his life. Hey, Jer. Uh how would you describe your, your approach at the plate and what you'll bring to the red line of every day? Um My person to play, you know, being aggressive on his own, um getting my walks, you know, trying to, you know, create good I BS. That's all about. You gotta be on base to help your team win. So for me, it's, you know, I like to be in *** second, you know, and um for sure, I wanna be able to be in *** great position. Um And on the base to create runs to create runs, we gotta create um We got *** lot of runs here, we could, you know, do some damage and everybody can run here. So I'm, this is *** special room. I'm excited to be part of this group and, you know, go from there, Jer, uh, as, uh, you're partially stepping into some pretty big shoes when you play first base here. Uh, are you concerned about this along those lines? Fill in for the, at least partially for Joey. Um, it's always gonna be pressure, you gotta handle it, you gotta handle it. Always gonna be pressure, um, in the big, especially in the big big league level, you have to handle the pressure. If you don't handle the pressure, you can't, you cannot survive in this game. So for me just putting myself in *** great position, you know, have your routine, have *** uh *** plan and execute it, like I said, um um last year I get trade um in the first game, my first game was in first base and I was, you know, I'm, I'm ready to, I'm ready, I'm ready to help the team win. Um If it's in third or first, I'm, I'm here to win and whatever it takes to get the club the right way and helping the team win. Um I'm part of this, uh I have *** question for you. Your numbers here in this ballpark are pretty good. How excited are you to play? Actually, I was talking to my dad the other day. I said, uh have *** couple of home runs here then, so it's gonna be fun. Um You know, I'm *** guy that you know, my little gaps and gaps home runs comes especially, you know, in this ballpark. And, um, for me, I'm excited to be here. I see the ball well here. So, um I'm, I'm looking forward to be able to, you know, help my team win. You have my confidence the right way. And I, when I stepped to the plate the first pitch from the first pitch, I'm, I'm just trying to do, you know, special things in the game, Jim, you were one of the first free agent hitters to sign, what was the conversations like seemingly early with the process early in the process to get this done pretty quickly. Um Like I said, um we put *** plan together like with my agent and my family and we've, we look like this is *** big opportunity for us to be here in this, in this, in this um team with this nice group of guys. Like I said, we, we, we talked about, you know, de la Cruz, we talked about Steve, you know, we talk about mclean. No, you know, some guys, they're special and they have one in two years in the big league and they doing *** lot of things that, you know, not many people do, you know, run the base, have quality *** BS, you know, defense, you know, they, they look like they have, they, they have like three or 44 years in the big leagues. So just be part of this team, young guys, but at the same time with *** lot of talent, um um I just, you know, I was excited for sure. I was excited and, and, you know, um Jeff, it was intense, you know, calling and calling and um it was like, you know what, let's go there, let's go reds, you know, and my agent said that they have *** lot of family here that they're *** red fan. So that helps to on your left again, your gentleman jam or have you heard from any of your new teammates? And if so, what did they have to say? Sorry, have you heard from any of your new teammates? Um I have ***, they've been following me on Instagram, they've been following me on Instagram, but um I'm looking forward to meet my, the team, I'm looking forward, you know, to that, that special talent that we have and um I'm looking forward to see them and meet them and, you know, talk and put *** plan together and, you know, have fun and execute it for sure anybody else. Thank you all very much for coming. Now, these folks will be around if you have any additional questions for me. Thank you all. Thank you, Jim.
