Reds outfielder Jacob Hurtubise holds baseball-themed gender reveal at Great American Ball Park
Reds outfielder Jacob Hurtubise found out the gender of his child by doing what he knows how to do best: slugging baseballs.
In a video posted to the Reds' social media pages, the 27-year-old Indiana native found out this week that he was going to be a girl dad on the field at Great American Ball Park in front of his teammates.
The video captured by the team shows Hurtubise's wife, Grace, underhand pitching him a ball, which Hurtubise swings at with his bat.
As he makes contact with the ball, it disintegrates, revealing pink powder that is seen floating through the air.
Hurtubise's Reds teammates are then seen cheering, and the outfielder goes over to hug his wife, who is visibly emotional.
The video ends as the couple hold up a baby-sized Hurturbise jersey, which bears his number of 26. The words "IT'S A GIRL" could be seen in all caps behind the pair on the stadium's big board as they did so.
The video, which was posted online just after noon on Saturday, appears to have been taken late at night when no fans were present within the stadium.
Hurtubise is in his second season for the Reds.
