Immigrant communities in Greater Cincinnati on edge as crackdowns continue elsewhere
President Trump's pledge to deport thousands of undocumented people who are in the U.S. illegally shows no sign of slowing down.
After weekend raids in cities like Chicago and Miami, enforcement operations happened on Tuesday in New York City.
NBC 온라인 바카라 게임 reports Aurora, Colorado, will see ICE agents on Thursday - with three more cities being targeted next week.
Immigrant families in Greater Cincinnati are anxiously waiting to see if communities in the region make the list.
A local immigration advocate told 바카라게임 investigator Todd Dykes that documented and undocumented people, employers and organizations are on high alert and that raids elsewhere disrupt lives because they create a climate of fear.
Some are speculating that large warehouse facilities in Boone County could be raided by the feds.
Currently, more than a dozen men are in the Boone County jail after being arrested Monday and Tuesday on what appear to be immigration-related charges.
So far, officials have not said where the men were arrested.
Dykes has reached out to representatives with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and the Department of Homeland Security for information but has yet to get a response.
On Tuesday morning, Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear shared his thoughts about the immigration crackdown.
"You know, there's a big difference in targeting known criminals, and ultimately putting extra resources from the federal government to finding... detaining and deporting them if they are violent criminals," Beshear said. "What I want to make sure is that we are not - in these efforts - ultimately infringing on the rights of US citizens and people who are here legally."
With the potential for immigration raids in schools, leaders in the Cincinnati area are communicating with families about existing visitor policies and student privacy policies.
A spokeswoman for Boone County Schools said she's not aware of any federal agents having shown up at classrooms in the district.
