A second member of the Wagner family appeared in court Wednesday, charged in the mass killing of eight family members that took place almost two and a half years ago in Pike County.George Wagner IV, 27, faced a judge one day after his brother Edward "Jake" Wagner, 26, pleaded not guilty to 23 counts including aggravated murder and robbery.Wagner IV pleaded not guilty to 22 charges including murdering eight members of the Rhoden family in 2016.Wagner, like his brother, also waived his right to a speedy trial through July, 31 2019.A pretrial has been scheduled for for Jan. 9, 2019. Wagner IV will be held without bail. The brothers' parents, George "Billy" Wagner III, 47, Angela Wagner, 48, were also charged earlier this month with planning and carrying out the murders. The family of four was arrested in Lexington in connection with the deaths of several members of the Rhoden family in Pike County.Eight members of the Rhoden family -- seven adults and a teenage boy -- were shot execution-style at four homes near Piketon, about 90 miles east of Cincinnati in rural Ohio, on the night of April 21-22, 2016.Christopher Rhoden Sr., 40; Clarence "Frankie" Rhoden, 20; Dana Lynn Rhoden, 37; Gary Rhoden, 38; Hanna May Rhoden, 19; Hannah Gilley, 20; Kenneth Rhoden, 44; and Christopher Rhoden Jr., 16, were shot and killed.It was a family affair that spanned three generations, Ohio Attorney General and Gov.-elect Mike DeWine said.Read more about connection between the families here. The brothers' parents will be arraigned later this week.An attorney who has represented the Wagner family has said they will be vindicated.
