The former first lady's roots run deep there.
At Miami University, flags fly at half staff in memory of Barbara Bush.
"Here is Mrs. Bush's father Marvin Pierce. That's him," said Carole Johnson, assistant director of communications at Miami University.
Bush's mother, Pauline Robinson, is also in that 102-year-old yearbook.
Pierce and Robinson met at Miami. It's where their love story began.
"They were the original Miami mergers as we like to say, some of the original ones," Johnson said.
Both were very involved while students at Miami. Robinson was a member of sorority Sigma Sigma Sigma, the university orchestra and choir.
"She went to what was then a teacher's college. It was just a two-year degree it appears, but also then finished in 1916," said Claire Wagner, director of communications at Miami University.
Pierce, who was nicknamed Monk, was class president, a leader of fraternity groups, a member of the mustache club and a standout athlete in four sports, football, basketball, baseball and tennis.
He was such an athlete that his photo hangs on the wall inside Millett Hall. In 1972, Pierce was inducted into the Miami Athletic Hall of Fame.
Less than a decade later, Miami University designated Barbara Bush as an honorary alumna.
"A lot of people know Benjamin Harrison was a Miami student, and as you know (he was) one of the U.S. presidents, but to see this come through also with the Bush and Pierce family, it's pretty neat to have that connection," Wagner said.
Barbara Bush's brother also attended Miami University.
