Threat at Florida airport prompts evacuation of plane going to CVG Airport
Passengers were forced to deplane a flight heading from Florida to Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport due to a security threat Friday evening.
According to the Federal Aviation Administration, passengers on board Allegiant Airways Flight 2006 from the Tampa area were forced to evacuate the plane due to the threat.
The flight was originally scheduled to depart St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport for CVG Airport at 4:18 p.m.
According to the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office, there is no immediate threat to the airport. No injuries were reported.
St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport has been closed as officials investigated the threat.
Airport security officials received reports of a written threat found on the door of the bathroom that contained a threatening message.
The plane landed at St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport from CVG Airport a short time before the threat was found, and was set to return to Cincinnati.
The FAA said the plane heading to Florida was Flight 2043, while the return flight to Cincinnati was Flight 2006.
Officials said the plane was on the taxiway when the passengers on board were forced to get off.
No suspect information has been provided at this point.
A return flight to Cincinnati has been rescheduled for 8 a.m. Saturday morning.
