Elton John saying goodbye to the Yellow Brick Road
Sir Elton John will walk the Yellow Brick Road around the globe one last time.
The piano-playing rock superstar announced Wednesday afternoon he is retiring from touring after a final 300-date world tour over three years.
In a new conference with Anderson Cooper in New York, Sir Elton said he wants to spend more time with his children, who will be 10 and 8 when he stops touring.
But his final go-round, dubbed the tour, should be something special.
See below for a list of North American tour dates.
"That doesn't mean I won't still be creative," he said. "I don't want to go out with a whimper. I want to go out with a bang... It'll be the most produced, fantastic show I've ever done."
Tickets go on sale in North America on Feb. 2. Further ticketing details will be announced in the coming months. The tour kicks off in the U.S. on Sept. 8 and will move on to Europe in April 2019, Asia in November 2019, Australia in December 2019 and early 2020, South America in March 2020, Europe in late 2020 and North America in 2021.
At the Grammy Awards on Sunday, John will perform alongside Miley Cyrus and will collect the President's Merit Award. His Las Vegas residency ends in May after six years.
John, whose hits include "Your Song" and "Candle in the Wind," has won five Grammys, an Oscar and a Golden Globe for "The Lion King," a Tony Award for "Aida" and received a Kennedy Center Honor.
