Election Day voting unfolds generally smoothly with some scattered issues, delays
All right, so good morning. Uh We, we, first of all, we apologize uh, for this little, uh inconvenience that we've had today. Um But upon opening the polls this morning, upon the poll workers getting there at 6 a.m. getting started, they opened the first, some of our, uh, inspectors opened their first round of ballots to find that the, uh, s some of the ballots did not have the local amendment and the constitutional amendment on the, that were printed on the back of the ballot. So, uh, at, at that point, we notified our vendor, uh, our printing vendor. At that point, we've notified the Secretary of State along with all of our, um, local officials who are aware we're working diligently, uh to get new ballots printed. And, uh, we have people down there right now waiting on them as soon as they're printed coming back. Um, we are working on signing *** petition to extend the hours of voting tonight for the precincts that were affected by this. Uh, so please stay in touch. Um, when we get that information, uh, we will forward it on. Do we know how many ballots were impacted? Just in general. We don't. So we're not really taking *** bunch of questions at this time because we're still learning. We've been, been trying to put out the fires, uh, before we can figure out what exactly is going on and how many it was. But, um, you know, all that will come out later. What's gonna be the best way for us to get that information when you have it. So we're gonna send it out to you guys. Um If y'all can just be uh help us, uh let them know that you know this, these several precincts here are gonna be have extended hours. It will only be the precincts who are affected by this. So, um as y'all see that, just please tell everybody to be patient. We're working very, very hard. This was just *** printing error. Um And uh and we're working very, very hard to get it fixed. So y'all please bear with us. Be patient. We're gonna do all we can to make it right for our people. What about people who already voted? Do the, does the vote count if it didn't have the back part of it? Absolutely. Yes, it will count. Do, can they come back and vote for the back part too? So their ballots already been issued. Um And that's ***, that's something that we'll have to work through. Um Again, *** lot of the details and that kind of stuff. Um We're still working through. I don't have an answer to that, but I do know that if they have cast *** ballot at this point there *** ballot will be counted. Ca can you just explain the petition part? Just what does that mean? Like we're working to get *** petition. We're asking the higher court to sign an order allowing us to uh extend the hours. Thank you.
