The challenger behind the egg photo, the account Egg Gang, posted the photo on the @world_record_egg account, with the sole purpose of becoming the most-liked photo and, more importantly, beating Jenner's numbers.
On Sunday, the mysterious egg photo catapulted from 14 to nearly 19 million likes in just a few hours. The photo currently has nearly 30 million likes, making it the most-liked photo and the only top photo that's not of or from a celebrity.
Exactly why the Egg Gang decided to rally behind a photo of an egg for this challenge is still unclear.
