People hoping to get their hands on the in-demand Nintendo Switch are turning to console emulators as the next best thing. However, the Kyoto, Japan-based gaming company doesn't produce an official emulator, and downloading one can wreak havoc on one's computer.

The federal agency advises users to avoid downloading programs that may contain adware or malware and to keep their software current.
