However, the Kyoto, Japan-based gaming company doesn't produce an official emulator, and downloading one can wreak havoc on one's computer.The Federal Trade Commission warns gamers that downloading unofficial emulators can install unwanted programs on their computers, sending out false alerts of software problems that require money to repair. Another emulator scam links to a survey that asks for personal information, sending it to dishonest third parties.The federal agency advises users to avoid downloading programs that may contain adware or malware and to keep their software current.Anyone who believes they've been a victim of an emulator scam can file an FTC report here.
