While divorce is often associated with heartbreak and disappointment, this mother wanted to show her daughter that her marriage was in fact not a complete failure and found an incredibly creative way to do that.
Karen Beardsley of Erie, Pennsylvania recently gave her daughter, Devin Petit, 20, a special gift for her upcoming 21st birthday: a necklace made from her old wedding ring.
Devin loved the gift so much, she took to Twitter to share the thoughtful idea. "My mom gave me this necklace this morning as an early birthday gift. It's made from the diamonds of her wedding band," Devin wrote on . "She said although her marriage to my dad didn바카라 게임 웹사이트t work out, they both agreed I was the best thing to come from it, which is why she wanted me to have it."
Devin's mother, Karen, was inspired to transform the ring into something meaningful and saw this milestone as the perfect opportunity to do that. "I think it represents successful co-parenting over the years and the love that both her dad and I have for her," Karen told .
Since her parents separated 10 years ago, Devin's folks have gone above and beyond to maintain a friendly relationship and make Devin feel supported. "My parents always maintained an amicable relationship and were really conscious of me and how I felt and always put me first," she told . "Throughout my childhood they lived very close to each other and I spent near equal amount of time with both of them."
Since sharing her mother's sweet gift on Twitter, Devin's post has gone viral and racking up more than 273,000 likes. She's also received tons of messages from her fellow children of divorced parents praising the idea. "This is how a divorce should happen," one commenter wrote. "This is how the child should be treated in the situation—love and support from both sides."
