CPD: 53-year-old man pronounced dead after striking utility pole in Paddock Hills
Cincinnati police are investigating after a deadly crash occurred in Paddock Hills early Saturday morning.
The crash occurred on the 4300 block of Reading Road at approximately 12:37 a.m.
Police say the single-vehicle crash involved a 2013 Ford Explorer that was being driven by a 53-year-old man. According to police, the driver lost control of the vehicle and struck a utility pole.
The driver sustained life-threatening injuries in the crash. He was transported to the UC Medical Center.
The driver later succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.
On Monday, the Hamilton County coroner identified the man as Ricky Baskins, of Cincinnati.
Police say that it remains unknown at this time if Baskins was wearing a seatbelt. However, speed and impairment are being investigated as contributing factors to the crash.
The Cincinnati Police Department's Traffic and Homicide Units are continuing to investigate the crash.
