AND VERONICA YANEZ IS A USCB STUDENT PURSUING A NURSING DEGREE. THE FRIENDS WENT TO BLUFFTON HIGH SCHOOL TOGETHER - AND WANTED TO FIND A WAY TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE THIS SUMMER. MCKENCIE GUERRERO, FOOD ON THE MOVE FOUNDER: "A LOT OF US HAVE A LOT OF TIME NOW THAT WE'RE IN QUARANTINE AND SCHOOL'S OVER SO WE WERE THINKING OF DIFFERENT WAYS WE COULD VOLUNTEER LOCALLY IN OUR COMMUNITY." THE PAIR SAW A SERIOUS NEED IN THE COMMUNITY THROUGH THE CURRENT PANDEMIC AND DECIDED TO START THEIR OWN NON- PROFIT ORGANIZATION: FOOD ON THE MOVE. IT OFFERS FREE GROCERY DELIVERY TO SENIORS OR HIGH RISK INDIVIDUALS IN BLUFFTON AND HILTON HEAD. SOT GUERRERO: "THERE COMES A LOT OF ANXIETY WITH GOING TO THE GROCERY STORE SO WE REALLY WANTED TO BE LIKE THAT MIDDLE MAN TO KIND OF DELIVER GROCERIES AND KIND OF RELIEVE THAT ANXIETY OF GOING TO THE GROCERY STORE AND BEING AROUND A TON OF PEOPLE." HERE'S HOW IT WORKS: SIMPLY CONTACT FOOD ON THE MOVE WITH YOUR GROCERY LIST. VOLUNTEERS WILL DO THE SHOPPING AND SANITIZE THE ITEMS - FOLLOWING FDA GUIDELINES. During the COVID-19 crisis, many people have a lot of extra time on their hands.Two college students in South Carolina are using that extra time to help others through these trying circumstances.
