This month is full of activities and ways to learn about Black History Month. Most events are free or come with admission, like at the Freedom Center. The Freedom Center is kicking off the month with a panel discussion on this year's theme, Black Resistance. The event begins at 6 p.m., but there are other places you can also attend, like the Cincinnati Art Museum and your local library. One event 바카라게임 found is put on by a local third grade school teacher, Ms. Sylvia Bernal. She teaches at Horizon Science Academy and decided to honor her scholar students. Scholar students are students that have excelled beyond their classmates in academics and behavior. "We want them to know that their hard work does not go unnoticed," Bernal said. She collaborated with a local barber, Danny Da Barber, who says giving back is a part of who he is. He says he started from humble beginnings cutting in schools, so what better way to show young men appreciation than with a fresh haircut?"I was going to whole schools cutting classrooms, you know, because I was taught that the good energy you put in the universe comes back 10 times over, and I understood that. At the same time, I was promoting my brand, I was making a child smile, a mom smile, you know. I knew some of those kids' moms probably couldn't afford a haircut," he said. Danny says the time he takes with each haircut allows him to spend time with the kids and talk about life, making him a mentor and role model. Something Bernal says these kids need to see for themselves. "I think that it's great that he would be a mentor and come to our school and give those opportunities and give these students something that they are lacking or something that they can look forward to. And with our target being Black History Month, I want them to see Black excellence in rare form," she said.
