The Cincinnati Reds have signed a new catcher from the team and he's not coming from far away.The Reds announced Monday they signed Luke Maile to a one-year deal for the 2023 season. Maile, a 2009 graduate of Covington Catholic drafted in the eighth round of the 20212 draft by Tampa Bay out of Kentucky, spent all of last season with the Cleveland Guardians, slashing .221/.301/.326 across 76 games with three home runs (tying a career high) and 17 RBI.Named Kentucky Mr. Baseball in 2009 and a first-team High School All-American by MaxPreps.com, Maile owns every offensive record in CovCath's history, with the exception of at-bats. He hit .514 with 12 home runs as a senior and was a three-time Northern Kentucky Player of the Year.Prior to his time in Cleveland, Maile spent one year with Milwaukee, three years in Toronto and his first two years in the Majors with Tampa Bay.
