Cincinnati Bengals select running back Tahj Brooks in sixth round of 2025 NFL Draft
The Cincinnati Bengals have gone offense for the second time on Day 3 of the 2025 NFL draft, selecting Texas Tech running back Tahj Brooks with the No. 193 overall pick.
Texas Tech's all-time leading rusher, Brooks spent his entire collegiate career with the Red Raiders, and rushed for more than 1,500 yards in each of the last two seasons. It marked the first time in TTU history that a player logged multiple 1,500-yard rushing seasons in his career.
His 1,505 rushing yards was the third most last season, behind only Arizona State's Cam Skattebo and UCF's RJ Harvey, both of which were also drafted this year. His 17 touchdowns were the third most in the conference and marked a career high.
For his TTU career, the Texas native rushed for 4,557 yards and scored 45 touchdowns, averaging 5.2 yards per carry. He was named an All-Big 12 second team honoree for his 2024 efforts and was a first team all-conference selection in 2023 after rushing for 1,538 yards on 290 carries and 10 touchdowns.
He excelled off the field in Lubbock, too, being a four-time Academic All-Big 12 first team member and was just the sixth player in Texas Tech history to be a National Football Foundation Scholar-Athlete.
Brooks could become an instant impact player for the Bengals, who are thin in the backfield behind Chase Brown.
Zack Moss, who signed with Cincinnati as a free agent ahead of the 2024 season, suffered a season-ending injury and missed the back half of the campaign. In free agency this year, the Bengals reunite with Samaje Perine, who spent the previous two seasons in Denver.
Barring a trade into the later picks of the sixth round or into the seventh round, Brooks will be the final member of the Bengals' 2025 draft class.
