The Cincinnati Bengals have drafted Clemson linebacker Barrett Carter with the 119th overall selection in the 2025 NFL draft.Carter is the first player drafted by the Bengals this year to not come from the Southeastern Conference, but does come from the same geographical footprint, having played his college ball in the Palmetto State. A third-team All-American by both the Associated Press and Phil Steele as a senior in 2024, Carter recorded 82 total tackles (42 solo) for the Tigers this past season, the second-most on the team.He recorded 3.5 sacks, the third-most for the Tigers.Over his Clemson career, the Georgia native was credited with 254 tackles (31.5 of which came for a loss), 12.6 sacks, 24 pass breakups and three interceptions.NFL.com's prospect rankings gives Carter a 6.25 grade, believing he'll turn into an "average starter" in the NFL.Lance Zierlein of NFL.com says of Carter as a prospect: "Carter overcomes average instincts and recognition with full-field range and elite body control in pursuit, though there is room for improvement with both his angles and leverage.
