Cincinnati-native Carson Foster captures second Olympic medal in freestyle relay
Second medal, secured!
Cincinnati-native Carson Foster captured his second Olympic medal Tuesday with the men's 4x200 freestyle relay team.
Team USA secured silver in the race, finishing just behind Great Britain, who took gold. Australia finished third, taking home bronze.
Luke Hobson who already took bronze in the 200m freestyle, kicked off the relay for the team.
Foster carried the second leg of the race, Drew Kibler took the third leg and Kieran Smith finished it off, anchoring the race for the relay team.
Team USA finished at 7:00.78, just behind Great Britain who finished at 6:59.43. Australia, who took bronze, finished at 7:01.98.
It's the second medal for Foster, who secured a bronze medal in his Olympic debut Sunday in the 400m individual medley.
"So much of who I am today is because I grew up there and the people there with me. Ken Heis of Mason Manta Rays, my club coach, is here tonight. I saw him right as I was getting on the podium. I love Cincinnati, it is home, and I am so grateful for everyone supporting me," Foster said after his medal-winning race.
Foster's Paris Olympics are not done: He'll take to the pool later this week, on Thursday, in the men's 200m IM. His heat is scheduled for 5:44 a.m.
