Businesses along Cincinnati바카라 게임 웹사이트s east end continue to clean up from flooding
Many communities are cleaning up after floodwater crept inside homes and businesses.
Now that the water has receded, people along Kellogg Avenue in the East End started assessing the damage.
The Hitching Post is known for its fried chicken, but another tradition runs deep inside the restaurant.
Earlier this week, multiple feet of flood water entered the building, and it was not the first time the Ohio River appeared.
"It's pretty bad," Owner Phyllis Turner said. "We've got about an inch of mud inside, and the water went up about five feet. In the meantime, a cleaning crew is coming in to help us get back in business. It is my first year owning this place, and I hope it doesn't get any worse."
The inside of the Hitching Post looks unrecognizable. Right now, the tables and booths are broken down, and mud covers the floors.
On Friday, workers removed the counter, fryers, and kitchen equipment. The items were pressure-washed, and plans were made to sanitize and assess whether they could be salvaged.
Turner explained the first time she walked inside after the flood.
"My heart dropped because I thought of all the customers and the employees without work," Turner said. "It just broke my heart."
The Ohio River and Kellogg Avenue go way back, and 2025 is another chapter in that history book.
Behind the Hitching Post is Tuke Landscaping, which was also hit hard by the flood.
Owner Jeff Tuke said this flood was worse than he experienced in 2018.
In fact, this is the second time in 2025 that his business was flooded.
"I told the Hitching Post owner earlier this year when the water was at 55.5 and left that Mother Nature always returns to get her ice, and it came back with a vengeance," Tuke said.
Businesses in the East End are very tight-knit and help each other with the cleanup.
"We work together," Tuke said. "The Post gives me food, and I provide them with service, whatever they need, like snow plowing, grass cutting, fixing things; I'm the handyman down here in their backyard," Tuke said.
The Hitching Post plans to reopen, but it will be closed for a few weeks for cleanup and restoration.
