Gov. Beshear says Kentucky in safest place it's been since early in COVID-19 pandemic
Gov. Andy Beshear is celebrating the progress Kentucky has made against COVID-19.
, Beshear took time to discuss how the COVID-19 spread map for the commonwealth is now all green. That means COVID-19 is at its lowest level for transmission across our counties.
Beshear said the state is in the safest place it's been since early on in the pandemic.
"Right now, it's not only less dangerous to be out doing things, it is actually less dangerous if you get COVID too because of hospital capacity and the number of treatments we have," he said.
The governor said he expects some counties may go back to yellow in the coming weeks due to the spread of variants, but he anticipates them returning to green.
The latest COVID-19 update comes after several surges that saw the state reintroducing measures to curb the spread. But with the distribution of vaccines and the omicron variant that increased herd immunity, COVID-19 levels have remained low across the state.
