Bengals Germaine Pratt says he was 'wrong' to call out Ossai for penalty in final minute
Cincinnati Bengals linebacker Germaine Pratt is responding to comments about a video showing him being upset heading into the locker room after the team's AFC title game loss.
Pratt could be heard voicing his displeasure on the last play of the game.
With under 20 seconds remaining in the game, Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes scrambled for a first down.
After Mahomes went out of bounds, Ossai made contact with him, drawing an unnecessary roughness penalty that took the Chiefs to the Bengals' 27-yard line, where Harrison Butker drilled the go-ahead 45-yard field goal.
Pratt could be heard heading into the locker room, saying, "why the you touch the quarterback?"
"It's a reaction that anyone would have, you know what was at stake at the time and the moment," Pratt said. "A guy made a mistake over and done with, I was emotional, I was in the moment, I was wrong, as a man, you can look at yourself in the mirror and say I was wrong, I wasn't a great teammate at that moment, but that doesn't define me as a man."
Pratt said 24 hours later, his focus is on getting back to work and having a great offseason with kids and family.
He said he made sure to go around the locker room to talk with everyone and tell them how much he appreciates them.
Pratt could also be heard in the video saying, "this is my last year."
When asked if he wants to be back next year, Pratt said he wants to be a part of a team that wins and be around his teammates and the brotherhood they've built.
What will it take for him to come back? Pratt said winning plays a huge factor, and he doesn't want to leave a team with a quarterback like Joe Burrow.
