See the most beautiful views in the Americas on Peru's first luxury sleeper train

You're going to want to add this trip to your bucket list

If you love long train rides, here's something to add to your bucket list: South America just got its first luxury sleeper train. The Belmond Andean Explorer transports 48 overnight passengers on a one- or two-night trip through Peru between Cusco, Puno and Arequipa, with opportunities to see the La Raya Mountain Range, Colca Canyon and Lake Titicaca, the world's highest lake, on your way. Prices start from $480 for the one-night trip, based on double occupancy. While the views are the best part of this train ride, the interiors are gorgeous too, with a vibe you'd expect on an Orient Express train through Europe. The train has four different styles of cabins, including two kinds with doubles beds and another two with twin beds that come either bunked or next to each other. All cabins come with their own en-suite bathroom and shower. The colors and textures throughout the train are inspired by Peruvian nature, including "soft ivory alpaca tones, Andean slate greys and woven textures and handicrafts," said Inge Moore, the train's interior designer. When you're not in your cabin, you can sip cocktails around the piano in the lounge car or take in the views of Peru from the open-air terrace of the observation car. There's also not only one, but two dining cars that serve locally sourced and seasonal dishes.Since no trip to Peru is complete without visiting Machu Picchu, be sure to add on an extra day to take the Belmond Andean Explorer's sister train, the Belmond Hiram Bingham, from Cusco through the Sacred Valley to Machu Picchu. Not convinced yet?
