Bad news, summer lovers

If the news that the East coast, South, and Midwest will all experience hotter than average temperatures this fall made you long for cooler temperatures, here's some good news: Your wish is coming true this month. From the Plains to the Eastern seaboard, the beginning of August is going to feel cooler than average, according to The Weather Channel. The unusual weather pattern is due to a southward dip in the jet stream that's bringing temperatures more than 25 degrees lower than average to areas east of the Rockies. Good news if you're ready to take your sweaters down from the attic, but if you're looking for a respite from the summer heat and you live in certain other parts of the country, you're out of luck.Areas in Texas and south Florida won't be affected by this wacky August weather pattern. Folks in those spots will still see highs in the 90s this weekend, and the Northwest might even get record high temperatures. For people in Wisconsin or Minnesota, though, temps will peak in the 50s early this month. We can expect this cooler-than-average trend to continue until at least mid-August, and the southern and eastern parts of the U.S. may bounce back up to normal before then, but they'll dip right back down again as a cold front moves through. So that just leaves one question: If it's already feeling like fall in some regions, does this mean you can start eating pumpkin spice goodies?
