Appearing in court via Zoom from a mental hospital in Columbus, Alto Miles admitted he killed four people during the course of two days in April 2020.
"What is your plea to those four counts?" asked Hamilton County Common Pleas Judge Christopher Wagner.
"Guilty," Miles said.
Miles, 47, agreed to a plea deal Friday involving four counts of involuntary manslaughter and a 36-year prison sentence.
"It's been very hard. It's not easy when you lose someone," said Rosemary Sheffield, aunt of victim Bridgett Carter, after Friday's hearing.
Loved ones of Carter and victim William Bowen III read statements aloud in court. They described the pain Miles caused when jealousy prompted him to shoot and kill Carter and Tasia Mason in an apartment on Clinton Springs Ave. in Avondale.
Then, Miles did the same to Bowen and Michel Eves on Reading Road after one of the victims apparently fought with Miles a few days earlier.
"It affected me mentally, emotionally, financially, and even physically," said Bowen's widow, Vi바카라 게임 웹사이트asia Blanchard.
"We have stayed prayed up, kept over our faith that this day would come and we get some closure, peace and justice and begin our healing process," said Maria Carter, Bridgett Carter's daughter.
A death penalty punishment was off the table because a doctor told the court Miles suffers from schizoaffective disorder.
"We're not happy on that aspect of the plea agreement, but the law is the law - the way things have to go," John Armfield said.
Armfield is Maria Carter's fiancé. Both he and Maria described Bridgett Carter as a beautiful, bright light before Alto Miles changed everything.
"Open arms, open heart. You could be wrong, she would help you make right out of it; always smiling," Armfield said. "This has been tragic for five years. .. At least we can start healing. The family can start healing."
The victims' loved ones thought Miles was going to plead guilty a year and a half ago. But after Miles shouted expletives in court back then 바카라 게임 웹사이트 while wearing a face guard to keep him from spitting on people 바카라 게임 웹사이트 the case kept grinding on until Friday's plea and sentencing hearing.
